The Wisest Man on Earth

I've just seen The Weather Man, and as expected it tries hard to be indie and real, but is simply one of many Nicolas Cage's dramatic tries.
It is a story of Nicolas Cage cursing and being sad. He has an overweight daughter and molested son, his wife obviously hates him and although he is a successful weather man, people throw fast food at him. So the film would be quickly forgotten by me, except one man. And that is officially the smartest, wisest and the most eloquent man on Earth. Let me introduce you to the man who survived Jaws 3, the man who although has British accent manages to produce oscar winning American children. Ladies and Gentleman,
Michael Caine.
Even when he speaks of camel toes and sucking dicks, he sounds like a respectful scientist. We salute you, Sir!

It's probably wrong to promote websites so popular, but this one is a true gem within them all. You basically spend the whole night clicking on moving posters trying to push Sin City from number one place on your top movies list. It's truly addictive and you will see more posters than ever in one place. But there's no poster for the Graduate.
And that's just wrong.

Yesterday I saw Saw

There obviously was a script on the set, but I bet it just described what tortures the characters are going through. The only dialogue they had was probably something like 'aaaaaaaaaa'. The characters were probably called 'character number one', 'character number two', etc. because I bet nobody can remember the names of the new ones. SAW 3D is only 89 minutes long and even though it's short, it is still mostly based on flashbacks from the previous ones. I'm not sure if I remember anything, apart from the first one. So it is literally film without a plot. And it's selling well.

P.S. Doctor Gordon is fat now- that is a twist of the final one.

Alexandre Desplat to take over Harry Potter

This film proved Alexandre Desplat and nobody else can put you in the most magical of worlds. I hope he's a good choice for Harry Potter. Besides amazing Girl with a Pearl Earring and The Painted Veil soundtrack he also did this
and this really hurt

VUE CINEMA

This is not the cinema I work in. But I've just found out how many films I have missed just because I started working in the cinema. Isn't it a paradox? Especially London Festival one. And now I have to make up all those reviews just to get the accreditation next year. So here it is. The ratings of films I haven't seen:
Conviction- people say it's good, but from what I've seen it's definitely well acted but not necessarily needed.
Somewhere- saw the middle 20 minutes of it and had to leave because it looked to good to miss any of it.
Brighton Rock- here I saw 20 first minutes of it and had to leave because it sucked.
I definitely have seen more, I just need some more time to recollect. Especially now the LFF website is gone.

maybe I should just keep on ignoring the cinema....

BLACK SWAN

Sell your soul to watch this
It's beautiful, thrilling, amazingly shot, visually stunning, musically orgasmic and Natalie Portman is just perfect. Black Swan is definitely one of the best movies recently made. Please, don't just trust me and go and see it

It's 6 AM

and I can't believe I'm up and rolling on facebook. Yes, I know it looks like I'm using blogger now, but facebook is actually open. And I look at it every 10 seconds.
I need to see some films today, so I'm just going to hide in the screens and watch At Ellen's Age and Two Gates of Sleep. Or at least something.
By the way, this film:

definitely sucks.

But I don't get the parties.

Let's Make It Clear

Is The Social Network the best film of the year?

It is.

What Have I Seen?

Working in the cinema right now, I don't have much time to attend the press screenings, so I basically try to hang out around the screens, so I can at least hear some of the London Film Festival movies. Also, some of the time is devoted to chasing a tramp called Charles, who knows the cinema better than the managers do.

But that's the list of my recommendations for now:

1. Heartbeats- I just won't stop recommending it.

2. Let Me In- it's pretty much the same as Let the Right One In, but has Chloe Morentz in it, and she is cool.

3. The Temptation of St. Tony- surreal, funny and dark

4. Blue Valentine- beautiful with amazing performances

5. Living on Love Alone- if you find time

London Film Festival

Everybody has done their 10 best-30 best films to see during the festival, but I've just seen four only, so I cannot really recommend you anything. Choose the short ones, then you don't suffer too long if they're bad. Choose Heartbeats, because that I can recommend. And choose to come half an hour earlier to get the best seats. And sell your soul to devil to get the to the surprise film screening. It's already sold out, but you can try.

Piranha 3D

It's ridiculous, absurd, gore and over-the-top. It's excellent. But why do we have to turn everything into 3D now?
Honestly, some films do look much better in 2D (like Piranha would) than in a fucking 3D. It wasn't even shot in 3D, so you can see almost no difference between watching it with glasses and without it. There are few scenes made specifically for the 3D usage, but they're no good at all. Sort of Jaws 3D level 3D. It's not worth it. Just leave alone the films that look nice and good in 2D.
P.S. Eli Roth has the coolest death scene
And these people just ruin everything:

24th London Film Festival

Now, it's been few days since I've been just sitting there going through program. I think it's time to choose films randomly. There are obviously a few I want to see, like Black Swan will be seen by everybody probably, and then Heartbeats which I truly recommend. Tabloid looks interesting as well, Carlos is much too long, and I will definitely see some queer stuff.
And for now, let's kills some time enjoying the trailer for Devil before Shyamalan destroys it completely.

And Cyrus Was Good

Like they said, everything else but what the poster suggested. Damn you, you misleading producers. If you like indie films, go and see it; if not, start liking them and see it.
P.S. It's so fucking hard to find Cyrus in images on google, because everytime you google the title, Miley Cyrus appears.

Saturday 11 September 2010

Today Cyrus

And the poster looks awful, the reviews are brilliant and the trailer hasn't been watched by me yet. So I'm basically unprepared. Wish me good luck
